9 tips to get a glowing skin in winter

Cooldown ! the days of snowfall have already come to your doorsteps. Before welcoming this coldest season, keep one thing in your head that it’s the season when your skin needs some extra heed.

1.Water to stay hydrated

To maintain your body’s homeostasis, drink at least 8-9 glasses of water. It keeps your skin soft, smooth, and hydrated. As the air is drier in winter, the water evaporates easily and makes your body dehydrated. It also helps to maintain the moisture of the skin.

 

 So, without being lazy, drink water as much as your body wants. Drinking a lot of hot drinks instead of water is the stupidest thing. Water can’t be replaced with others. It is the most essential thing in winter to disappear the fine wrinkles.

 

2.Need a lukewarm bath

A hot and steamy shower is what we all want during winter. But, does your body really want it? “No,” said the dermatologist at Baylor college of medicine. 

 

A hot bath is the real cause of dry skin in winter. Which can further lead to itchiness, redness, skin inflammation, and may even increase eczema. So, what should we use?

 

It’s the lukewarm bath recommended by Dr. Harry Dao, assistant professor of dermatology at Baylor. 

 

The temperature of the lukewarm water is typically 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. It may be at room temperature. It differs as per the individual’s choice. 

 

Take a five to seven minutes shower for wintery glowing skin. Don’t take a long shower. It can give a dry skin full of redness and irritation. So, the use of lukewarm water in winter is a good choice for your skin.

 

3.Avoid wet clothes

 

Mainly in winter, wet clothes are the main cause of skin problems. It is the only reason for your skin dryness, irritation, itching, and cracking. Some wet winter wears like socks, gloves can lead to severe skin damage. So, put off those wet things as soon as possible.

If you still experience some discomfort then use some over the counter medication as per prescription.

 

4.Skin care products

Choose some things that are very mild and gentle for dry winter skin. Avoid masks and peels, astringent lotions, and any alcohol-based products. They are very harsh to the skin. 

 

Clean your face with a cleanser that can moisturize. It’s very helpful to restore the normal moisture of your skin and give a glowing skin in winter.

 

Winter is a season of self-love. So, use skincare products like; ceramides, hyaluronic acid, hydration serum, and glycerin to treat your acne and breakouts.

 

5.Donot ditch the shades

The shades are not just safe but also very useful for eyes in winter. It protects your eyes from the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays, which is the main cause of vision problems. 

There is a very common misconception among people, sunglasses are made for summer. But, it’s very much necessary in winter too.

Researchers also say, in winter the UV rays can create more short-term and long-term eye problems. The cornea is very sensitive to temperature. When it gets cold, secrets and tears. So, to protect your eyes from cold winds takes your shades up.

For optimal eye sun-safety, the American Optometric Association recommends wearing sunglasses that block 99% to 100% of both UVA and UVB rays and screen out 75% to 90% of visible light.

 

6.Apply sunscreen

We think sunscreen is only used in summer. But, actually, it is needed in winter too. The skin cancer foundation stated that snow and strong winds are very dangerous. As they wear away the sunscreen and reduce its effectiveness.

 

So, it’s recommended to wear sunscreen daily. you should also reapply it every two hourly and immediately after sweating. You can also apply it after putting moisturizer on the skin. It protects from winter UV rays and prevents unwanted dry skin and wind burns.

Moisturize your skin

 

A moisturizer with thicker and creamier consistency is what your skin needs during winter. It protects your skin from dryness and wind burns.

 

A good moisturizer has some moisture-binding properties. So that it locks the moisture and helps the skin to stay hydrated. There are also some natural moisturizers like coconut oil, olive oil, buttermilk, and cucumbers, etc.

 

Lipcare

 

Do not forget to moisturize your lips. Do it several times to protect them from getting dry .donot lick them. because licking the lips can lead to dryness and chapped lips during winter.
